@Steliyan_Petkov_Georgiev, I don't agree. Madonna was/is and icon (I'm not a fan actually) that was created when people liked to idolize the qualities of popular figures. I don't question LG's qualities or popularity, in fact I think she's great (maybe better than Madonna). I think, however, that today we are much less likely to stand in awe before a capable artist (or anyone else, actually), and this doesn't stop us from acknowledging such person's talent or ability.
An example to help my point: Americans will never recognize a contemporary politician as a new "founding father", no mater how capable or dedicated he is. You don't compare with the founding fathers because you don't expect to ever have something worth comparing (although this is not necessarily true).
